The temperatures are climbing and the sun is staying out longer- a walk on the beach, or a stroll at Goddard Park now requires a light jacket- and, may I add, that I have quite the extensive collection of Spring jackets! It is my favorite season, after all. I can declare it: Our Spring is finally here! What can be described as, “The longest winter ever” is now in the rear view mirror. We are getting our gardens ready, and our ovens ready for Easter dinner and lots of fun, backyard get togethers, Graduations, and other events come our way during these Spring months.
The winter weather can not only be frustrating, cause damage and inconveniences in our plans, but also put quite a bit of wear and tear on our vehicles. These factors all play into how much we go out, and our local businesses depend on that for their survival. With the awareness of these struggles, Warwick is proud to be a part of Do Over Day on April 18th. To learn more, you can head to the website http://www.goprovidence.com/dooverday/ Mark your calendars- this is an event you will not want to miss. Our favorite restaurants, hoteliers and local businesses- this is for you. That extremely large amount of snow that fell in the March and February months- in a relatively short period of time- has naturally made a massive impact on the hospitality and tourism economy.
With this in mind, the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) and the Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) are partnering on a marketing program. Do Over Day is a promotion to encourage local residents whose winter plans were impacted by bad weather to quite frankly, “do them over.” To participate in this program, please submit your promotional offer to Christine Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org or Monika Nair at email@example.com.
With all of this talk of getting back outside again, I simply cannot help but think about where to go for Easter dinner! Your pal Nate here, is not exactly what you would call a Chef…so, I’ve rounded up some exciting places in Warwick which I would recommend making your reservations. Let’s start with Libations Restaurant & Lounge on 2081 Post Road, right at the Raddison Hotel. The asparagus Easter soup sounds delicious! And, if you’re feeling Brunch, the cinnamon swirl French toast could not be better!
Feeling Italian on Easter? Sophia’s Tuscan Grille will do just the trick! On 1729 Warwick Ave, the special Easter Breakfast menu is served from 8am-1:00pm. Try a wonderful Frittata for old world charm, or Tuscan Steak & Eggs. Mouthwatering! What about the favorite…Crepes! Fruit filled, powdered delicious-ness. What about dessert? At Gregg’s April’s “Cake A Month” is Chocolate Layer. Heading there for Easter Dinner? How about their Baked Virginia Ham!
Entertainment this month is going to be fun- At the Ocean State Theater you can catch “Lend Me a Tenor” from April 1-19th. BRUCE KALVER’S MAGICAL MOMENTS on April 4 and BEN BAILEY, April 12. Loved INTO THE WOODS ? It begins April 29!
Well, my friends, I’m off to make my Easter reservations. See you in May, when we won’t need ANY jackets for our beach walks. Happy Easter! And, if you go to dinner, be sure to tell them, Nate sent you!
