Hello, friends- it’s me, Nate- I found a way to clear away the snow and cold to come out and say, “Hi.” Who am I kidding? I am writing to you on an island far, far away, an orange and pink cocktail in hand…(sigh) kidding. I’m sharing your pain of being cold and only being able to wear boots. Slushing streets and nonexistent parking spaces. Well, it’s safe to say, we’re well on our way to Spring. Maybe you’re in disbelief that we’ve all some how found ourselves trapped in the land of, “Never Ending Winter”, but the calendar says March. And March, my friends, truly means Spring! This month, we have so many things going on to get our minds off of winter, and onto the sunshine days. There’s the St.Patrick’s Day celebrations, the Rhode Island Home Show, and new restaurants to try as the weather gets warmer, and the sun stays out longer. Not to mention- Del’s Lemonade opens in 29 days!

The best events in Rhode Island are the ones that are unique to us; their mission represents our being, the values we carry as a state, and way we work together with the different towns and cities to do great, significant things. This year, Warwick had a very special part in the development of the 65th Annual Rhode Island Home Show March 5th-8th presented by the Rhode Island Builder’s Association. If you’ve never been to the show, this is the year to attend. We are proud to say we played a role in all the efforts representing team work- and no one could demonstrate that attitude better than the students at Warwick Technical School. If you are heading to the convention center to to attend the show, you will see the Energy Expo sponsored by National Grid and the RI Energy Efficiency and Resource Management Council. You can interact with some hands on energy exhibits made specifically for the show by the students at the Warwick Tech. It’s so inspiring to see the students representing their school and Warwick. Attendees will have access to over 100 energy vendors, free seminars, demonstrations, and- there’s a giveaway involved-one lucky person will walk away with a $5,000 Energy Home Makeover!

The Home show will definitely get you in the mood for Spring, and making your home feel like an oasis you can enjoy indoors and outdoors- no snow involved! So, what about your taste buds? Well, your favorite neighborhood bar is suddenly being transformed into something pretty spectacular- yes, Chianti’s Parkside is making quite the transformation into your new spring hangout- The Trap. Chianti’s Parkside has been a destination for Warwick and East Greenwich for nearly 10 years, and to say thank you to its’ customers it is creating an atmosphere that’s modern, comfortable, and stylish. You can still chat with your favorite bartenders, watch the game and devour your favorite wings at Wing Night. The big opening is March 10th. Just wait until you see what they’ve done!

How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? What about Dublin’s Irish Caberet on the 10th at St.Timothy’s Church? Fat Belly’s? Or McKinley’s? Do you head to Newport for the parade? Don’t forget about A St.Patrick’s Day Concert by Two Old Friends on Tuesday, March 10th, 7:00pm-8:00pm in the Large Meeting Room. On March 13th, there is the St.Patrick’s Day Party, located at Dancin’ Feelin’ on 2429 Post Road…wear something green! Ballroom dancing to recorded music: $12/$10/$7 starts at 8:00pm. Let’s hope the luck of the Irish brings us a warm March, and an even warmer April. Until then, whether you’re at the Home Show or making a toast at Fat Belly’s- tell them, Nate sent you!
