Every year since 1966, from May through June, Pawtuxet Village plays host to the Gaspee Days Celebration, an event marking America’s First Blow For Freedom, the burning of the Gaspee. The festival features an arts & crafts fair, a colonial gala ball, a children’s costume contest, a colonial encampment, and the annual Gaspee Parade along Narragansett Parkway. A mock Colonial battle ensues, culminating with the symbolic burning of the Gaspee.
