"I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream" has been a popular song since it first came onto the scene in 1927. Now, nearly 100 years later, the lyrics at the center of the musical collaboration of Howard Johnson, Billy Moll, and Robert A. King still rings true – especially in New England in the summertime!

Newport Creamery has been a Rhode Island tradition since 1928. Known for ice cream cones, a variety of sundaes, ice cream sodas, root beer floats, frappes, the kid-favorite “clown sundae,” and the legendary "Awful Awful" shakes, this local chain also serves American breakfasts, a variety of appetizers, soups, salads, grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more. Pair your Awful Awful with a cheeseburger made the famous "Newport Creamery Way"!

The Daily Grind is an ice cream shop also offering cold brew, nitro cold brew, hot coffee, lattes, chai, cider, tea and lemonade, a few specialty beverages like their Iced Shakerato, and 28 flavors that can be added to any drink!

Apponaug Village Creamery is a family-operated ice cream shop that opened this spring in historic Apponaug Village. They offer delicious Hershey's ice cream in a variety of flavors, including gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free options, as well as sherbet and frozen yogurts and a variety of fun toppings and sauces! Or try their milkshakes, and root beer, Coca-Cola, and orange soda ice cream floats. Their quaint shop has an old-fashioned vibe and a pet-friendly patio!

Another new addition to Warwick's list of great places to indulge your sweet tooth is Bella's Creamery, which offers delectable goodies like a traditional ice cream cone, sundaes, milkshakes, specialty gourmet milkshakes, bubble waffles, acai bowls, crepes, ice cream nachos, fried Oreos and ice cream, and fried dough!

Locally-owned and operated, Gigi's Scoops has expanded into Warwick, opening their third location here this spring! Choose from a mouth-watering menu of flavors and toppings. Hard- and soft-serve options available, as well as a variety of specialty shakes, ice cream floats, sundaes, frozen yogurt, and no-sugar-added flavors, as well as monthly specials.

When talking about summertime traditions, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention New England Frozen Lemonade, available down at Oakland Beach, and Del’s Lemonade, whose delicious frozen drink has delighted kids of all ages here in Rhode Island since 1948, and now comes in several different flavors. You can visit them at one of their storefront locations – or keep an eye out for their green trucks as you travel throughout the Ocean State! Oh, and unlike ice cream and shakes – the Little Rhody way to enjoy this doesn’t involve spoons or straws – just swirl that slushy lemonade goodness around your cup, sip and enjoy the great taste of summer!
