With summer now in full swing, the new Greenwood Credit Union City Hall Plaza has some special, family-friendly events planned this month to celebrate its first warm-weather season! The rink, used for ice skating in the winter months, is perfect to use in any type of weather, especially with a permanent shelter covering the120 x 60 space from the sun and rain.
A pop-up market on July 10 kicks off the lineup and features wares for sale from local artisans and vendors, sweets trucks, and a bounce house! A DJ will spin tunes while you take a whirl around the rink in bumper cars. The Warwick Police Department will also be on hand with a special touch-a-truck event. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m.
“Summer Sunshine” is the theme on July 22. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be roller skates available for rent – lace ‘em up and take some spins around the rink while you listen to live music play! Local vendors will be on site, along with trucks offering treats to make the evening just that much sweeter. Head on over for a relaxing time with friends or family!
The Warwick PD will be back in full force on July 25 for “Roller Skate with a Cop,” which will have two sessions, one from 10 a.m. to noon and the other from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The day will feature food trucks, and sweets trucks, and free admission for all! Free skate rentals will be available for kids ages 12 and under. Visit the plaza website to sign up.
In addition to these special events, the plaza is open Wednesday through Sunday for bumper cars and roller skating. Bumper cars run from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Roller skating is offered from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, with a 15-minute intermission at 6:45 p.m., Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. There’s also a Roller Skating Family Discount every Wednesday night. Enjoy 50 percent off admission and rentals. Kids ages 13 to 19 can enjoy 50 percent off admission and rentals from 5 to 9 p.m. on Teen Night Thursdays!
